The
agency represents a number of insurance carriers based
both in
the United States as well as overseas. “A”rated
carriers are the only ones that will be considered by the
principals of Marine Underwriters as a carrier with a lower
rating raises possibilities of claim settlement problems
and possible insolvency. As commercial fishing vessels
are our staple “bread and butter”business,
we have the honor to represent the largest fishing vessel
insurance company in the world –Sunderland Marine
Mutual Insurance Company, Ltd. Sunderland specializes only
in fishing risks and has offices worldwide. They maintain
an “A-“(Excellent) rating with A.M. Best Insurance
Guide. In terms of U.S. business, they have regionally
split the country with Marine Underwriters handling all
southeastern business. The territory stretches from Texas
to South Carolina and includes Central America and the
Caribbean.
